2015 GrandSlam Helsinki I 27/02/2015

Yury Simachev - Anastasia Klokotova © LPX-photo One week to go! The first GrandSlam of the year gets underway next Saturday, 7 March, with Standard. Latin is on 8 March. And quite a few things will be new and different ...

First, the inaugural leg of the Series crosses the Gulf of Finland as Helsinki takes over the hosting from Tallinn, EST. The Finland Open will be the new home and the Helsinki Exhibition and Concention Centre Messukeskus the appropriate backdrop.

Second, a number of dancers will be competing for the first time with their different partners in a GrandSlam. Particularly in Latin there are a few new couples that everybody is anxious to see performing on the same floor.

Third, the WDSF Communications will roll out its first "Live from ..." blog after the 2014 World Standard in Vienna, AUT, where concerns about the editors' objectivity and impartiality were raised by some blog followers. A set of editorial guidelines will be in place for Helsinki and establish the parameters for the work done by the Communications team. More about that next week!

For all who are still considering dancing in the GrandSlam or any other of the events in the Finland Open, registration remains open over the weekend. Click here!
