Prague Open 18/09/2014

2014 Prague World Open © Vladimir Prouza Last weekend one of the most prestigious events in Czech Republic was held in Prague. It can look back to an eleven years lasting tradition.

Hosting a WDSF World Open in Standard and Latin, as well as WDSF PD Competitions in both disciplines makes this event very interesting for the dancers, which is proved by steadily increasing numbers of entries.

Prague Open 2014 took place in the Palace Lucerna , which is built in Art Nouveau Style and creates an unforgettable viewing experience. For many years the event was held in this location. The address was changed when the hall was rebuilt. With new organizers and partners the competition came back to it`s original venue.

The event is supported by the Capital City Government of Prague. Important to mention that the Major of Prague is especially interested in DanceSport, he was a dancer himself not so long ago. The organizers, headed by Pavel Tejc and Jiri Sevcik, and the Czech DanceSport Federation did all their efforts to provide good conditions for the competitors. So Prague Open developed to be one of the highlights in the scene.

Both World Open Open saw an entry of app. 100 couples out of 25 nations. In Latin the couple from the Russian Federation Andrey Kiselev and Anastasia Kiseleva won all 5 dances in an impressive way, receiving 60 1st places out of 65. They showed great dancing and demonstrated one more time their personal strength in partnering.

In Standard Volodymyr Lyatov and Veronika Myshko, UKR, had a great night and took the 1st place. For more details see the results here.

The WDSF PD Standard competition was dominated by Emanuel Valeri and Tania Kehlet, DEN. This couple used to dance in Prague Open quite a few times, it was a pleasure to watch the now in the Professional field. Also in the PD Latin the winner was a well known and popular couple of the Prague audience, Andrey Zaytsev and Elizaveta Cherevichnaya, RUS.
