World Ten Dance 19/11/2013

Vienna, AUT - 16 November © Roland The 20th edition of the Austrian Open brought much innovation to a proven concept. And that was a good thing - particularly if one reflects upon what would have happened in case of a fire alarm going off at the Stadthalle, the previous AOC venue.

The outcome of the World Ten Dance, on the other hand, was much the same as it was over the past few years ... This holding true all the way back to Vienna and 2010. Indeed, Vienna was the place and 2010 the year when Bjorn Bitsch and Ashli Williamson won their first title in DanceSport's decathlon. The two are now the first couple to win four world titles - and that in succession. Congratulations!

The competition was as tight as ever: even Rule 11 had to be invoked in order to declare the champions. Maybe with the Sports Department preparing a proposal to adopt Judging System 2.0 for World Championships from 2014, this will not be necessary in the future. More innovation!
