Paolo Bosco, ITA, World Champion in Standard on four occasions, including one as professional, World Games Champion in 2009 and - most recently - World DanceSport Games Champion, is the first recipient of the WDSF Athlete's Award.

On 19 September and on the occasion of the World DanceSport Games 2013 Athletes' Party, Paolo received the award from the hands of WDSF President Carlos Freitag.

Freitag held the award speech for one of the most outstanding athletes in recent WDSF history, putting emphasis not only on Paolo's many sporting achievements but also on his unwavering commitment to the World DanceSport Federation and its perception of dance as genuine sport.

Paolo was the first of the reigning World Champions who opted for the WDSF PD as his career path upon turning professional in 2010.
