WDSF Meets IOC 20/04/2015

Judging System 2.1 As every year during SportAccord, WDSF is given the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the International Olympic Committee Sports Department to provide an update on developments in DanceSport.

Sports Director Marco Sietas briefed Christian Wassmer, the Department's Head of International Federations Relations, on the most important initiatives undertaken by WDSF during the past twelve months. Many of them are linked to the ongoing 2020 Vision process and deal with matters such as the new Code of Ethics, the addition of new Commissions, and the general efforts by WDSF to improve all aspects of DanceSport governance.

Another important topic of the discussions between Sietas and Wassmer was the Judging System 2.1, which the IOC considers a great advance in the evaluation of a sporting performance with an artistic touch added. One only needs to look back to the recent Winter Games in Sochi to find several other sports that were added to the Olympic programme and that use similar systems to determine their champions.
